There are a number of ways to make money online but despite what guru’s would have you believe; none of them are that quick or easy. First I shall run through the “don’ts” of making money online. One of the worst mistakes I made was when I decided to have a website through a free host and using a sub domain. During the two years I wasted hundreds on various make money programs/e-books and business in a box programs.

Now it is just possible that some of these may have made me money if I had my own domain with a professionally designed website. I will never know because until recently I had always been using sub domains – so let’s make the first one – don’t use a free host (reliability issues and limited options) and don’t use a sub domain. Potential customers just don’t take you seriously if you
couldn’t even be bothered to spend the few dollars to get your own domain.

The next one is don’t use PPC advertising, unless you seriously understand the program you are using and know exactly how to manipulate and optimise your website and your campaigns – you will end up spending a lot more than you get back. The next one is don’t just buy the first “so called” earn money easily through PPC program or e-book that comes along, I have made this mistake several times.

Particularly in the case of google ad-words, there are things that even the guru’s don’t know because every time someone comes up with a method of beating ad-words, google alters it’s algorithm and criteria, they do this
every 3 months. So before you know it, that great new “killer PPC program you bought is useless and has probably got you “google slapped” as well.

Next up – don’t take things at face value. I have tried many programs and e-books over the past three years even though I wasn’t looking to buy them. Why? The guru’s create such amazing sales pages that almost hypnotize you.

The claims made are so fantastical that they couldn’t possibly be deceiving you could they. Surely nobody would make such outrageous claims if they weren’t true? I f they wanted to deceive you surely they’d say something like – learn how to make hundreds in your first month. Not – make thousands per week within 48 hours of using this system. Well actually both methods of sales page are used frequently.

The best way to tell if a program is reasonably successful, or at least working for the majority of buyers is to do a little research. The place to start is forums. This leads me onto another don’t. Ignore the squidoo lens “reviews” they are more interested in selling you the product than giving you an honest opinion. Look only on forums and follow this general rule. Are there more than 10 complaints, if so this is a bad sign?

Now these forums are sometimes used as a method of pointing you in the direction of other programs, that they are an affiliate for. So don’t get sidetracked, ignore the other programs that are being discussed and
concentrate on finding out about the one you are researching. Another general rule is the ratio of complaints. As with any product anywhere, no matter how
good it is, there will always be some complaints – if the ratio is worse than 10 complaints to every good comment, this is a bad sign. These “dont’s” can apply to all manner of online business including the following:

1. Drop-shipping companies.
2. Affiliate companies.
3. Make money programs.
4. Web designers.
5. SEO companies.
6. Survey companies.
7. PPC optimising companies.
8. Stock trading programs.

These are just some of the things you should bear in mind before buying. If you would like to read about known Scams and scam artists, and get more detail on the above list, as well as a way that I am using to get my site listed on page one of google using only free traffic
